Jan 14, 2007 vs. Patriots | 1:30 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg This is a tough one for EVERYBODY associated with the Chargers-- players, coaches, management, and as we well know from personal experience, the FANS.

Dec 31, 2006 vs. Cardinals| 1:05 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg The Chargers completed their regular season Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals with a 27-20 victory. It wasn’t their prettiest or most dominant win of their 2006 campaign, not by a long shot. But the Bolts again displayed a key trait that may yet deliver them into football’s Promised Land: The ability to FINISH.

Dec 24, 2006 vs. Seahawks| 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg There have been many exciting developments and story lines over the course this season of magic for the San Diego Chargers, but none of them is more important than this-- The team has become one that finds ways to win.

Dec 17, 2006 vs. Chiefs | 5:00 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg Generally, there is more than one road that can be taken to get to a destination, and that’s just what the Chargers proved in front of a national television audience on Sunday evening.

Dec 10, 2006 vs. Broncos | 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg By the time Nate Kaeding put his foot to the ball for the opening kickoff, the Indianapolis Colts had already lost their game to Jacksonville, picking up their third defeat of the season.

Dec 3, 2006 vs. Bills| 1:05 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg The Chargers traveled to Buffalo for Sunday’s match up, but faced more adversaries than just a hungry and improving Bills club. There was the weather-- near freezing, and wet, with gusts of wind that affected the both passing and kicking phases of the game.

Nov 26, 2006 vs. Raiders| 1:05 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg For those wanting to understand how the 8-2 Chargers could struggle so greatly against a 2-8 Raider team before finally prevailing, 21-14, all you have to do is take one brief look at the Bolts’ list of ‘Inactive’ players for the game.

Nov 19, 2006 vs. Broncos| 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg Keep in mind… Of the previous 19 meetings between these two clubs in Denver, the Broncos had won SEVENTEEN of them. Some teams just seem to have another team’s ‘number’, and for upwards of a decade, that had been the case here.

Nov 11, 2006 vs. Bengals| 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg For a moment, I wondered if somebody had slipped a tape of a vintage Bengals vs. Chargers battle into my VCR, because I haven’t seen the ball get slung around the yard like that since the days of Dan Fouts and Ken Anderson some 25 years ago..

Nov 5, 2006 vs. Browns| 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg This was the ‘Ugly Betty’ of football games. Granted, it is pretty much impossible to maintain a peak level of intensity and motivation over an entire 16 games schedule, and the Chargers proved it by coming out flat and seemingly uninspired on Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium.

Oct 29, 2006 vs. Rams| 1:05 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg The manner in which the Chargers SQUANDERED the game a week ago in Kansas City provided plenty of reasons to question the team’s ‘fitness’ to reach the postseason.

Oct 22, 2006 vs. Chiefs| 10:00 am

49ers_small_review.jpg What happened with the Chargers in Kansas City on Sunday was NOT what the doctor ordered. In fact, it was exactly what the doctor had cautioned the Bolts to AVOID at all costs.

Oct 15, 2006 vs. 49ers| 1:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg It was a game the Chargers were supposed to win, and they did. But it was so much MORE than just that. For starters, this was the first time head coach Marty Schottenheimer has allowed Philip Rivers to throw from the game’s outset.

Oct 8, 2006 vs. Steelers| 5:15 pm

49ers_small_review.jpg It’s a bit like learning to drive a car with a stick shift transmission. Until you figure out how to coordinate the movements of the clutch, the gear shift lever and the gas pedal, you’re in for a very bumpy ride and a lot of stalling. .

Oct 1, 2006 vs. Ravens| 10:00 am

49ers_small_review.jpg Want to understand what happened in this game? I can make it REAL simple for you--- TOO MANY MISTAKES. Even good teams, which the Chargers MIGHT be before this season has run its course, cannot win games against quality opponents if they surpass a critical number of errors.

Sep 17, 2006 vs. Titans | 1:15pm

49ers_small_review.jpg This was a game the Chargers were SUPPOSED to win, but you know how THAT works… Teams don’t always win the ones they’re “supposed to”. The game against Miami last season comes to mind as an example. A painful one.

Sep 11, 2006 vs. Raiders | 7:00pm

49ers_small_review.jpg It wasn't pretty. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing a dozen or so more of these 'ugly' victories. There had been some question about whether the Chargers could shake off the emotional toll of losing Steve Foley for the year

Sep 1, 2006 vs. 49ers | 7:00pm

49ers_small_review.jpg The Chargers couldn’t have hoped for a better beginning to their season than the 27-0 beatdown they administered to the Raiders last Monday evening. Week Two of the schedule has the Bolts playing at home against the Tennessee Titans, a team in transition between the Steve McNair Era and the Vince Young Era.

Aug 26, 2006 vs. Seahawks | 8:00pm

49ers_small_review.jpg The game couldn’t have started out much uglier. Cletis Gordon made an unwise decision to return the opening kickoff from three yards deep in the endzone, and only managed to advance the ball to the 13 yard line.

Aug 18, 2006 vs. Bears | 5:00pm

49ers_small_review.jpg Last week, Charger fans were reminding each other not to get overly excited about winning a preseason game in a dominating fashion. This week, we need to remember that a preseason loss is not a catastrophe.

Aug 12, 2006 vs. Packers | 7:00pm

49ers_small_review.jpg Like most preseason games, the outcome wasn’t terribly relevant. Summer games are always more about charting the progress of young players, and getting a look at the rookies.
